RED 4/4/12 2004 Stage Left Cellars “The Day Job” Central Coast (15.2 abv., $20 (discounted), winery): This powerful and elegant wine is a blend of 67% grenache, 22% cabernet sauvignon, and 11% mourvedre. An opaque garnet color that is just beginning to soften at the rim, The Day Job gives up a nose filled with black raspberry, cassis, tea, and a hint of licorice. While cabernet notes dominate in the aroma category, all three grapes are integrated on the palate, silky cool in the mouth with tart red fruit, cigar box flavors and a steady, long finish. This wine has no problem working overtime. Conclusion: Luscious, elegant, rich. No sense telling you what to serve it with because there’s none of it left! I might have one bottle. The winery is out, too. Don’t bother — I already asked.
