2010 Tortoise Creek Carignan Vielles Vignes

RED 5/8/12  2010 Tortoise Creek Carignan Vielles Vignes, Pays d’ Hérault (12.5% abv., $12.99, Du Vin Fine Wines): An opaque, deep garnet, almost purple wine, it has a subdued nose; what comes across are whiffs of bright cherries and flowers. In the mouth, tons of red fruit (cherries and raspberries) without being jammy, with hints of herbs and minerals. Conclusion: This is a great value! Versatile, easy drinking, with enough substance and structure to face a solid meal. Great fruit, mouth-watering acid. A lot going on for $13!
