A few days after our visits to wineries in the Côte de Nuits, my wife and I met up with Stephen Liney, a veteran of the Burgundy wine scene, for another round of meeting winemakers, tasting their wares, and learning as much I could about the Côte de Beaune in eight hours. Our scurrying around the villages and vineyards south of the city of Beaune took us to meetings at Domaine Moissenet-Bonnard in Pommard, Domaine Jean-Marie Bouzereau in Meursault, a tasting event and lunch at Olivier Leflaive in Puligny-Montrachet, and we closed the day with an extensive vineyard tour and cellar tasting at Domaine Senard in Aloxe Corton. While the day was jammed with new faces and places, and loads of information, it was clear to me that these few days in Beaune were only the beginning of my relationship with Burgundy. Here are some shots from our pinot and chardonnay-infused peregrinations.
Next up, we’re off to Champagne!
